faith Ancient Egyptians faith Ancient Egyptians Alt text title: Egypt par5.mp3 Audio Unselected The Pharaohs were the kings of Ancient Egypt.. They were seen to be almost like Gods. Ancient Egyptians believed in life after death and that after death their Pharaohs became Gods. When a Pharaoh died they were buried in enormous tombs. These were the pyramids. They were buried with all their belongings such as furniture, clothes, treasure and even food. Some were even buried with their pets such as monkeys and dogs. They thought they would need all these things in the next life. To make sure their journey to the next life went well, their bodies were mummified or preserved. They were dried and rubbed with oils then wrapped or bound in layers of cloth. Lastly they were placed in several coffins made from wood or even gold. The coffins were covered in beautiful drawings or hieroglyphics Heiroglyphics was the Ancient Egyptian’s writing.. Archaeologists have only recently worked out how to read them. They grew wheat, barley, vegetables and fruit like figs, grapes, and dates. The Egptians also got food from fishing and hunting on the Nile. The Nile was also used as a great road to transport goods up and down the country. 4 5 1 Ancient Egypt Egypt is in the north east of Africa. What we call ancient Egypt started there more than 5000 years ago and lasted for almost 3000 years. Egypt is surrounded by desert so people lived on both sides of a long river called the Nile.
