The
Pharaohs
were
the
kings
of
Ancient
Egypt..
They
were
seen
to
be
almost
like
Gods.
Ancient
Egyptians
believed
in
life
after
death
and
that
after
death
their
Pharaohs
became
Gods.
When
a
Pharaoh
died
they
were
buried
in
enormous
tombs.
These
were
the
pyramids.
They
were
buried
with
all
their
belongings
such
as
furniture,
clothes,
treasure
and
even
food.
Some
were
even
buried
with
their
pets
such
as
monkeys
and
dogs.
They
thought
they
would
need
all
these
things
in
the
next
life.
To
make
sure
their
journey
to
the
next
life
went
well,
their
bodies
were
mummified
or
preserved.
They
were
dried
and
rubbed
with
oils
then
wrapped
or
bound
in
layers
of
cloth.
Lastly
they
were
placed
in
several
coffins
made
from
wood
or
even
gold.
The
coffins
were
covered
in
beautiful
drawings
or
hieroglyphics
Heiroglyphics
was
the
Ancient
Egyptian’s
writing..
Archaeologists
have
only
recently
worked
out
how
to
read
them.

The
Nile
was
very
important
for
the
Egyptians.
It
flooded
every
year.
This
made
the
land
really
good
for
growing
crops.
They
grew
wheat,
barley,
vegetables
and
fruit
like
figs,
grapes,
and
dates.
The
Egptians
also
got
food
from
fishing
and
hunting
on
the
Nile.
The
Nile
was
also
used
as
a
great
road
to
transport
goods
up
and
down
the
country.

Ancient
Egypt
Egypt
is
in
the
north
east
of
Africa.
What
we
call
ancient
Egypt
started
there
more
than
5000
years
ago
and
lasted
for
almost
3000
years.
Egypt
is
surrounded
by
desert
so
people
lived
on
both
sides
of
a
long
river
called
the
Nile.
The
Nile
is
the
longest
river
in
Africa.
